What to do in September:
Summer is slowly but surley fading and it's time to start thinking about the fall garden! Veggies are starting to come in so get your beds ready. Here are some reminders on some things you can start doing.
- Add compost to freshen up the soil so that new transplants get a boost
- plan out what you want to plant this season
- Water anything that has been stressed by the summer with a root stimulator
- Plant the last round of Summer veggies such as squash or cucumbers etc.
- Plant Fall/Winter veggies
- Don't forget to leave a space for Garlic/Onions which will be here mid-November
- Apply liquid low strength fertilizer to vegetables and herbs. They are heavy feeders and need a steady supply of nutrients for them to produce well.
- Inspect ornamentals, vegetables, and lawns for harmful insects. Active insects to look out for include aphids, mealy bugs, beetles, grasshoppers, and caterpillars (be careful not to harm the good ones such as butterfly species!). Identifying and treatment early on helps prevent devastating damage before it is too late. It also helps by reducing the amount of pesticide needed to be used. Basically, it is better for your plants, your wallet, and the environment!
- Weed! The best way to control weeds is the hard way…Pull them up.
- Apply Humate to improve soil structure. By doing this you can create a soil structure that deters weed growth and helps reduce the chance of fungus in your lawn like brown patch.
- Keep an eye out for brown patch this fall and treat with Microlife Brownpatch

Texas Natives
We have a fantastic selection of natives that will thrive with very little care. Texas natives are often used in xeroscapes and areas where little water will be available. There are also a lot of natives that are great for bees, birds, and other wildlife.
Color
From annual to perennials we have the color to make your flower beds BOOM! As color is seasonal it is best to plant either in Spring for late spring - early Fall color OR Fall for late Fall - early Spring color.
Trees
We carry fruit trees, shade trees, and ornamentals in manageable sizes typically 5 gallon to 15 gallon and sometimes 30 gallon however certain sizes and varieties can be limited to availibility.
Shrubs
Plenty of different types available. Shrubs are great for natural screenings, forming hedges, and they also make for great accents in the flowerbed. Mostly they are hardy evergreans that provide year-round greenery.
Houseplants
Our houseplant selection is constantly growing, we grow a lot of our own as well as bring in truckloads of foliage whenever we have the space. We also stock several rare and uncommon varieties.
Soils, Composts, and Mulch
Great selection of bagged goods from our favorite premium quality brands such as Foxfarms, Back to Nature, Landscapers Pride, and Whittlesey.
Fertilizers and Nutrients
